Getting to Isla Mujeres is easy. Just fly into Cancun airport. (Isla Mujeres does have an airport but it's for local flights only).

From there you take a mini bus or taxi to Puerto Juarez. The minibus to Puerto Juarez costs about US$9.50 pe passenger. A taxi costs about US$40.00. It's about a 20-40 minute ride depending on how heavy the traffic is in Cancun.

Once you get to the ferry port, you take the ferry to Isla Mujeres. That takes about 15 minutes.

Right off the ferry pier on Isla Mujeres taxis are waiting to take you wherever you need to go on the island.

If you want to commute to Cancun or other points of interest for the day you can save money by taking a bus or minibus from the Puerto Juarez ferry. It costs about US$.55 per passenger. It has a sign that reads Ruta 13. To return to the ferry you can catch the bus on the east side of Avenida Tulum.
